Long before The Judds became a household name, Naomi was writing songs and safeguarding her work in whatever way she could. This envelope, postmarked November 1982, holds a cassette tape labeled "Naomi’s Originals," along with typed lyrics, and a handwritten track list in Naomi's handwriting across the back. It’s an example of the “poor man’s copyright,” a trick artists used in hopes of establishing ownership of their material by mailing it to themselves, creating an official date stamp. Inside, recorded on October 24, 1982, are twelve of Naomi’s original songs sung by Naomi and Wynonna.
